Designed and constructed by threebeans, our additions and renovations respect the original structure while enhancing it to achieve the owner's vision by finding and then realizing the correct mix of scope, detailing, and budget.
The first photo on this page is usually viewed thinking that the garage is the addition. In fact, the "main house" is the addition: a classically-proportioned center-hall colonial matched to an existing barn-like residence. The before-and-after photo collage of the rear elevation of this home illustrates the transformation.
Designed and constructed by threebeans, our interiors are carefully thought out and creatively realized. Our kitchens and cabinet designs consider ergonomics, aesthetics and practicalities without compromising on beauty and appeal. Our custom cabinetry is created in our own shop in Fairfield.
An intimate space, bathrooms present their own unique challenges of generally smaller spaces that require a great deal of care in design and build. They are a complex mix of every trade and an almost infinite selection of materials.
Unmatched attention to detail is a point of pride.
Attention to detail is critical in each and every project, no matter how large or small. The photos below are close-ups of the touches that separate a threebeans project from the rest.
Our love of all things design isn't limited to the showcase photos. There's creativity in our custom furniture pieces, and functional elegance and beauty in our mechanical systems.
Constructed for a globe-trotting client, this kitchen remains one of our favorites. It will stand the test of time, with elegant gray perimeter cabinets in a high-gloss finish anchored by a clear-coated walnut island with custom legs, and it will look as good in ten years as it does now. A Lachance range is positioned under a central ventilation hood constructed by reclaimed, 200 year old floorboards salvaged from a home in Fairfield, with the same material used to make a wine glass rack in the adjoining bar. Industrial lighting, clean white marble worktops, and unlacquered brass hardware detail the space.
A stunning collaboration with Moss Design of Fairfield, white nano glass tops are accented by brushed gold hardware and surrounded by white cabinetry and stainless appliances. Meghan De Maria, the principal of Moss Design, is an up-and-coming Fairfield County designer with adventurous taste and uncommon flair. This is the first of four collaborations with Moss Design and we look forward to many more.

A whole-house renovation in Southport, this jewel of a home was reconstructed from top to bottom by threebeans. Entering through a foyer paneled in African Anigre with a curved, vaulted ceiling, millwork abounds, from coffered ceilings to board-and-batten detailing to soffits concealing electric window shades. A white kitchen is accented with a Michelangelo marble and cherry island top, and a truly one-of-a-kind bar features clear-coated alder with walnut accents and burled maple.
Our favorite restaurant! BONDA features a zinc-topped bar with ebonized walnut edging under stainless steel mini low-voltage recessed lights in a zinc-paneled soffit. Millwork in bright white is offset by BONDA's signature orange walls and grounded by our indestructible faux-chestnut flooring. Enjoy our fave -- grilled romaine with shaved Parmesan -- and the eclectic warm ambiance created by BONDA's owners and our dear friends, Kim and Jamie Cooper.
